567145, Help to enter BIOS on Toshiba Satellite
Posted by Pcqandaman, Tue Nov-23-21 04:10 PM
I have been tearing my hair out trying to enter the bios on this fairly old laptop.
I've tried repeatedly pressing the following whilst switching it on but nothing seems to work.

F2
FN key + F2
F8
FN key + F8
F12
FN key + F12
ESC
DEL
Pressing and holding down the ESC key whilst switching it on.

Can anyone suggest anything else?
Thanks.

The model stated on the back is SATELLITE C50-A-19T

From a Google search, F2 pressed repeatedly apparently does it for most people.

But a slight twist is to do this: "Step 1: Shutdown the laptop. Step 2: Drain all its power by removing the battery and pressing the power button. Step 3: Put the battery back, switch on the laptop, and press F2. And Voila!

Jim.

Thanks very much KJT.
I couldn't get that to work either.

Never mind. I was just wondering if it had the BIOS option to use the security option TPM 2.0 which Windows 11 requires.
I changed it on my desktop in BIOS which now passes the Windows 11 check.

The laptop also failed the processor test so it probably will never be able to run Windows 11 unless MS changes the acceptable CPUs.
