I know alot of you do not like, use Pc pitstop but I actually have used it as long as can remember. I Get totally consistent results and have learned from it. I have paid version. I have a HP Pavillion 15z-c100 That is really a nice laptop for my needs. It is about 15 mo. old and has ALWAYS scored top 10% of builds like it all year. The last week I get the BSOD almost everyday, with an error message. It reboots and is fine until it does it again. Still runs great otherwise. No new anything installed. The last week it has scored consistently BOTTOM 21% with nothing looking different. I have done all troubleshooting, maintenance, etc including HP support assist. I am aware it is all based on whatever pcs use the site with similar specs, nothing set in stone, but I am sure the world did not go out in the last week and buy new bigger , faster laptops and went tanked, lol. Any ideas. I know, Get rid of Pcmatic.

All start with a message about restarting unexpectedly due to possible power loss, crash. All power kernel.

I have never seen Windows 10 crash from a hard restart or a power failure. I do hard shutdowns all the time if something misbehaves or freezes. Go through the normal uninstall procedures For PCmatic. Remember the old registry cleaners. I would never use it on Windows 10 as a cleaner but they are useful to track down and remove any lingering program registry entries that you want to remove if they allow you to search the program name. It sounds like you have been using the laptop as a laptop. They are very efficient vacuum cleaners and can clog up the heat sink fins from the inside. It kind of sounds like your problem may be overheating, if you have been using it on anything but a hard surface. Remember that you can reinstall windows 10 and keep all your settings and programs. It keeps those if you indicate so and just renews Win 10. You might have to do some updates that might be lost but that is the only downside.

I keep it clean in and out. I have a laptop cooler for it as well. I have always been very anal with my PC. I fix and sell to friends and they all know they can trust me. I use the recommended maintenance software like ccleaner and try to keep bloatware etc off. My scans all run clean. I do not get it . I may redo windows.

Well I reset it all. Did everything same as always and pcmatic still says bottom 21 %. Has been top 10 % for over a yr. So as it runs the same except for occasion BSOD I do not know. It does occasionally just freeze and do nothing every now and then. I have to hard boot. This does not always occur at same as BSOD. That just pops up when I am doing something.

Well good luck with it. I would keep far away from PCmatic and I have my doubts about Crap cleaner with Win 10. I never use it after I had trouble with Win 10 after running it once. I use ESET and SAS. I am not entirely sure if SAS and is very effective but it doesn't seem tho hurt anything. I miss the days when SAS and Malwarebytes were competing and between the two you could find and get rid of some really nasty stuff. Neither one is near what they used to be.

I agree about Sas and malwarebytes. They find nothing and are useless. CCleaner has never been an issue for me at all.

Ha! I knew I wasn't nuts- Seems there is a KNOWN issue with pcmatic since last win10 update in early Dec, and it is not my PC. They are aware of it. So at least I am not crazy ( i know , thats debatable). Thanks All
