That can be a tough one. With computers I generally use the philosophy that you get what you pay for. Read everything about the components that you can, and pick up on the recurring theme from the reviewers, so you can get a good idea what is actually true or just hype. I like to game so I read a lot about overclocking, pick high end components and then use them at standard settings or boosted to where they are comfortable. The computer I used before this one I built when Windows 7 64 bit was fairly young. It ran a 940 black edition for some time and then upgraded it to a 1100T. I gave that computer to a Friend of mine upgraded along the way To windows 10. I just got it back last week for it's first repair, a failed PC Power and cooling 750 silencer. I was surprised at how snappy and quick it still was. I gave that one away 6 or 7 years ago before my wife became ill and it is still going strong. My current build I used a ASUS Sabertooth motherboard and a FX8350 Black processor, 32Gb of ram a Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SSD with a EVGA GTX970 FTW. It is still quite nice. It plays Destiny 2 flawlessly on a 32" Sharp HD television I use for a monitor. We will see how it does with Far Cry 5 when it goes live tomorrow. The last upgrade this computer will get is a EVGA GTX1080 FTW before I build a Ryzen machine. This one cost me about $1,500 to build. I expect the next one will be closer to twice that much. By the way you are welcome to the 940 black if it would work and be an upgrade for your current system. It's in the box for my FX8350 with it's fan that I never used.
