Just to clarify, that adapter has no true electronics other that wires/leads/traces to extend the power and data connectors to the physical location they need to be for the 3.5" form factor housing.

There are no resistors, capacitors, inductors or semiconductors in that adapter.

Here's an example of another adapter that has a circuit board that just extends the connections to match up with a standard 3.5" form factor.
