At this point you need to make some decisions. I suspect that the hard drive is failing.
- Do you want to keep this laptop in service, or do you want to replace it with a different one? - Is there important data on the hard drive?
If yes to either of these questions then you need to decide if you need to take it to a professional, or try to do the work yourself. If you want to try to do it yourself, you will need a cable or dock to connect the hard drive to another computer via a USB connection. This will allow you to determine the health of the hard drive and possibly retrieve data. At the very least, the drive will need a format and fresh load of Windows 7. To make this easier, you might also want a USB DVD drive.
