Edit: Or, you could turn off Animations in your browser's settings. If you can't limit the "turn off" to just Google, you'll probably miss the animations (weather radar, for example) on other sites.

Or use Chrome and search from the address bar.

If his OS information is correct as listed at the bottom of his post, he's using Windows XP. I'm pretty sure I read that Chrome no longer supports XP.

He can probably search from the address bar in whichever browser he's using.

For me, too much function is lost by not using Google's Advanced Search - unless one memorizes how to use the "features" built into the Advanced Search - such as the requiring or excluding of specific words or phrases, specifying which site to search, and many other of Google's Advanced "features".

Sorry, I need to update my info. I am now using Windows 10 on all of my computers except for one laptop which uses Windows 7. It seems to me that this question about Google search surfaced here once a long time ago. The page I liked was similar to Googles animated page except there were no animations and a couple of additional icons to click on for Advanced search including images. I haven't been able to find the particular google page in quite a while. Thanks for all the responses.

I haven't used it before today but it claims to use Google search results but with full privacy and anonymity. On Startpage.com, click the "How we protect you" link at the bottom of the page to see more features.

It has no bouncing animations and isn't "colorful" but does have a few probably useful links to other specific Google-type searches (images; videos; advanced). You might like it.

I compared a simple Startpage and Google search. The results are virtually identical but not precisely the same. I don't think anyone would find the very minor differences I noticed to be objectionable.

I knew he used 10 after a few posts about issues.But like I said use Chrome search from address bar that's all I've done for years and never see Google's start page just can't deal with IE or FF anymore.

I think I will just try searching from the address bar for a while and see if that works better for me. Thanks to all for the responses and suggestions. Typical PCQ&A good suggestions and ideas.
