547182, What are MEI folders That are in my %TMP% folder?

This morning I had 415 MB worth of them in that folder. Every day I have large amount of the these folders in my Temp folder. What program is putting them there? Everyday I use CCleaner to clean them out. In am running Windows 7 64-bit.

No idea, I don't have any in my temp folder. I do seem to recall seeing someplace what MEI folders are, but I can't remember and so far a Google search has produced no relevant results. I find one result that seems as though it could hold the answer...but the link times out.

On a side note, it's funny how perspectives change. Several years ago 4 or 5 hundred MB's would've been a big deal to me. With the huge HD's today that feels more like 4 or 5 MB's to me :lol: In other words I have so much space that I don't even notice a few hundred MB's here or there :lol:

I don't know W7, but if they're in your %tmp% folder won't they go away when you reboot?

I'm pretty sure some stuff gets left behind. The temp folder is another one of those things that seem to bother some people that I don't give a second thought to. They're temporary files, they get cleaned out once in a while when I run CCleaner, no worries.

Ordinarily, the main reason temp folder files get left behind is because they are still in use at session end, so they go next time. Not saying the cleanup is perfect, however.

Perhaps you could post something similar showing just what is in your MEI folders making up those hundreds of MB?

(I used TREE.COM. Even a DIR /S would be useful.)

As pointed out the .pyd & py* files are related to Python.
So now that we have some names, how about file sizes to go along with them?
(I'm sure the noted files aren't very big, so just what are the big files?)
Play games, Combat Arms by chance?

Oh, & so they're not "MEI" but rather "_MEI#####" that would have been helpful.

Do you have Java?
Do you use Java if you have it?
Are you up to date with it (updates released just today)?

Computer specs, Dell? CPU?
Use an "Intel Management Engine Interface", seemingly some sort of remote access something or the other?

Watch online TV using some third-party program?

I haven't visited this site in many, many moons but stopped by to take a look and discovered your problem.

If you are using a WD external drive for system back up...these files may be related to it. They may be your backup files. I use WD's MyPassport but don't have it permanently attached to my system. I didn't want some of the pesky problems that it can cause...and most recently, their latest version is causing some people unwanted headaches.

My suggestion...check your Device Manager and see if WD is listed as a communication device. It probably hasn't had its driver activated. Activate the driver and it should help eliminate your problem. Or...do what I do and manually run a back-up whenever you want.
