Sorry, but in reference to the "edsod" thread, & contrary to what others have posted against it, in general, I agree with edsod.

Now everyone has made valid points, & while his surfing habits & the way he uses his computer may not make it a valid method for all (or maybe even very many), there is no reason that not having an AV (at all) will necessarily make him more susceptible.

This goes a long way also, "common sense...".


Some here espose the use of ERUNT over XP's System Restore.
The only falicy that I see is that SR is automated - it does not (in general) need user intervention. The same as a realtime scanner does.
ERUNT requires the dumy behind the wheel to know in advance that he wants to backup his registry, & then he must physically do it - the "on demand" scanner.
