Sure...uninstall your old version before installing this one. Patrick does not upload a new beta until he is sure there aren't any bugs. I have beta tested all versions, and have yet to find a bug.

As Shelly said, it is mostly cosmetic changes. Some things have been moved around. The browser settings to lock start page and hosts file has its own page now, and is no longer under the "Immunize" tab. I haven't really dug that deep into it yet.

I would tell you to definitely go for it. :-)

The changes must be more than just cosmetic. This version takes almost twice as long to scan my HD.

That's what I was afraid of. Spybot seems to get slower with every new version. It used to be much faster than Ad Aware, now Ad Aware is about three times as fast as Spybot.

Yes. I have SpyBot's scan priority set to "highest" (one below "time critical"). This new version takes nearly 8 minutes to scan my 9GB hard drive which is 80% empty. The old version took arould 4 minutes.

Interestingly, the timer in the lower right corner now counts up from zero instead of down like in the last version.

Strange because mine still counts down, but it started from 59 min and 60 seconds. Luckily it didn't take that long but it is slower.

I think on the first scan, it calculates your approximate disk usage. Scan again and it should count more accurate. It does scan a little slower, but more nasties are popping up each day.
Another thing...this version creates System Restore Points before fixing anything, you can disable that feature in settings.

Don't forget...this is a beta version, the code probably hasn't been fully optimized. Mine scans in 4 minutes...about the same as v.1.2

I stopped the "check for bad downloads" first, then uninstalled the 1.2 version, then installed the 1.3 beta4.
For testing purposes,I unchecked the 2 new restore point features found in Settings and ran it. I also deleted my cache.
The old version scanned my 100 GB HDD in 8 1/2 minutes.
The new version scanned in 6 3/4 minutes.
I like it.

Darren seems to be right. On subsequent scans, the clock starts at about 4:30 and counts down. Scanning is now about as fast as the previous version.

I just did a second scan now, with all default settings checked, including the system restore points features. I cleared my cache first, then did a scan in 7:08 minutes....again a little faster than the old version. :7
