Let me try these one at a time.

The only place I've got control over ESCD is in the PnP/PCI Config. where I can set the Resources Controlled by "Auto(ESCD)" or "Manual".
I also have "Reset Configuration Data" diabled. I tried changing both settings with no luck.
I've also tried F6, *Fail-Safe Defaults", same thing.
Tried disabling L1 and L2 cache and same thing.
Already had the Maxtor site and don't quite understand the first step. I know the 2nd doesn't work.
